The Gastroenterology department is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that occur in the digestive system, starting from the mouth, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, rectum, and anus.

One of the most important methods used by our specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the digestive system is endoscopic procedures. One of these procedures, called gastroscopy, allows the visualization of the throat, esophagus, and stomach, which are part of the upper digestive system, by entering through the mouth. Another endoscopic method, called colonoscopy, involves the examination of the large intestine by entering through the anus. Both of these methods are performed using cameras inserted into the body and play a crucial role not only in diagnosing diseases but also in their treatment.

Common diseases encountered in the Gastroenterology department include:

• Diseases that occur in the stomach include: ulcers, gastritis, reflux, polyps, benign and malignant cancers.
• Conditions related to the small intestine include: tumors, ulcers, hernias, diverticula, fistulas.

• For the surgical treatment of tumors in the esophagus (esophageal tumors).

• Conditions related to the colon include: colitis, polyps, hemorrhoids, constipation, colon cancer.

• Conditions related to the liver include: cirrhosis, benign and malignant tumors, abscesses, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D.

• Conditions related to the gallbladder include: tumors, gallbladder polyps, and inflammations.

• Conditions related to the pancreas include: acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer.
